Game of deception that nobody told you about business competition

Well! Business competition is not a child play. It is similar to serious battles of will & wits played in military campaigns. This is done by way of deception that remains unearthed till the purpose is achieved or smart Alecs in business press stumble upon it and publish in the media. Can I spill the beans on deception in business warfare?

Firms often mask their real intention so that competitors are always kept in the dark. Till such times the real aims are achieved firms keep a firewall of silence. How they do this? Here comes answer from celebrated Samurai Miyamoto Musashi”

“Moving about in darkness or shadows and occupying isolated places, hiding behind screen attract suspicious attention. To lower enemy guard, you must act in the open hiding your intention under the guise of common everyday activity”

To avoid any suspicion by business opponent, firm indicates “everything is normal – nothing exceptional” posture that calms down opponent and gives him a false sense of reassurance that competition will not be taken to the next level. This type of normality slackens vigilance on the part of opponent. He is as the Chinese proverb says is subjected to “pulling the wool over eyes

This misleads opponent to make his corporate plan on the basis of the present level of competition in the market and normal incremental growth in business along with anticipated and announced technology progression. A classic example is how Singapore Airlines & Emirates conduct this deception in pricing, acquiring aircraft fleet, airline routes and travel destinations.

In point of fact these airlines adopt the first of the Chinese ‘’36 stratagems”:

Deceive heavens to cross the sea!

Cheers!
