Competition in the market is not a walk in the park but tightly fought business warfare. The East Asian Tigers understood how business competition evolves into fierce battle where the winners take all. So they mounted twin sided competitive posture: Info war & Intel war
Business competition in the western economy is often considered as some sort of battle of strength & skill where the strongest prevail. But countries like China & Korea brought in two aspects that were treated with kid glove in the west: competency and the will to succeed against odds. Competency in Info and Intel warfare is necessary ingredient in their path to a winning war. Both these were combined in strategic focus that was built upon keen insight into market and its participants.
Info warfare is market oriented. This market can be either geographical or virtual or having both features. Info warfare is latent in the sense it is seen and heard in the public domain. The focus of attention is to build up market acceptance with products rolled out with less than the market price initially. Over the period of time price mechanism is tweaked so that it is on par or slightly lower than the market price. The point of fact is that, Info war is more strategic than tactical.
Intel war, on the other hand is entirely virtual where the market participants are the target. This business warfare is conducted in the theatre of internet with cyber warriors as soldiers and data as weaponry. This war is focused on a particular mission. For example, break into cyber security and steal vital intelligence regarding a particular competitor or a group of opponents. Having seized vital data, Intel war is pursued to break the will of the competitor/s to fight back. The point of fact is that, Intel war is tactical in operation but strategic in intent.
Both Info war and Intel war are conducted using a single or multiple stratagems from the famous “36 stratagem” of China!
Cheers!
