Business manoeuvre for hard power projection

Similar in military campaign, companies have the ability to project power by adopting appropriate business manoeuvre against a single competitor in particular or a group of competitors in a sector or region. Underlying factor is the ability to project hard power at a sustainable range so that opponent is cowed down easily.

Generally hard power is exercised by a strong business entity or a business that perceives it to be a strong over competitors in a particular industry. Hard power ranges between political to economic spectrums. The following are examples of business manoeuvre that can be effectively used for making hard power felt across the market:

1. Price-cutting:  Blanket instrument targeting several businesses in one go

2. Pressure tactics: Selective business manoeuvre targeting a single weakling in a group

3. Follow me: Patronising other businesses to toe your line

4. Threats: Play hard-ball penetrating into the nerves of competitors and also instilling fear of failure in them

5. Sanctions: Hitting the bull-eye of a specific business where it hurts

Cheers!
