Mal Information used as warfare tactics

During wartimes truth becomes the first casualty. To do that, malinformation is fed into newline in constant stream to confuse, deceive and tie several parties.  Recent example emerges in Ukraine war. One new stream says Russia is losing in Ukraine; the other stream conveys Russia is ready to invade rest of Europe. Why this contrary news stream?

It was Sir Winston Churchill who famously said: “In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies." Mal information is definitely a set of lies blurted out in order to firstly confuse the recipients secondly to deceive them in such a way that mal information is then easily conceived as real truth.  Let us examine the above two sets of info which appear mutually contradictory.

Russia is losing

Plainly speaking this mal info is meant for the Russian public primarily in order to build in them defeatist attitude directly and develop tendency to lose confidence in the present administration of Russia indirectly. Secondly, it is used as nuance to pacify domestic public in America and Europe that there is nothing to worry about as Ukraine she is on the winning side. What surprises is the hidden persuasion that convinces military arms, weapons and allied equipment produced and supplied by the Western nations are of great quality.

Russia is poised to pounce on rest of Europe

Once again the primary focus here is to tie the allies firmly with American led Western political and economic system not to mention the military architecture such as NATO. Target countries are persuaded to increase defence expenditure to ward off the evil of Russian invasion that too by purchasing military hardware and software manufactured by America and the selected NATO partners such as France & Germany.

Plainly put, there goes hidden persuasion too. This is targeted at those countries that are sitting on the fence; so called non-aligned. Alarm bells are sounded to these countries that unless and otherwise they toe the line with   America and NATO they could be the next victims.

Mal-info can be effectively used in business warfare as well.  The cola war between Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola is not only perennial in nature but has a distilled menu of mal-info streamed with an ulterior purpose of encouraging consumers to buy either Coca-Cola or Pepsi or both. The subterfuge is that there is no worth competitor should arise on the horizon against these cola giants!

Cheers!
